Mohare Danda

A community ridge west of the Poon Hill crowds. Magar villages, forest, a lodge looking at Dhaulagiri. Built as a village trail, not a strip.

West of the Poon Hill highway, the trail runs through Magar farmland and forest toward Nangi, then up to a ridge lodge at Mohare Danda (about 3,300 m). The view, when it is clean, is Dhaulagiri close and the Annapurnas along the wall. You sleep in a community building on the grass, not in a row of private hotels.

The country is quieter than Ghorepani. Villages, oak, pasture, a purpose-built eco-trail associated with Nangi and Mahabir Pun’s community network. It can join Poon Hill or Khopra if you keep walking.

Usual nights

One common outline. Villages and camps shift with the road and the season.

  1. Nangi Homestay or community lodge
  2. Mohare Danda Community lodge on the ridge
  3. Swanta or Ghorepani, depending on the line Community lodge or teahouses

Four or five days as a loop from the Kali Gandaki / Galeshwor side, or as an add-on from Ghorepani. Community lodges are the point — book or arrive early. Do not expect a teahouse every hour. ACAP. This is still a hill walk with a roof, not a camping expedition.

Days are a usual range, not a promise. Jeeps, snow, and your pace change them. Permits and guide rules change — ask in Pokhara before you go.
