Ghandruk
A Gurung village on a shelf above the Modi Khola. Stone roofs, Annapurna South in the window. Walk in, or jeep to Kimche and stroll.
Ghandruk sits on a stone shelf above the Modi Khola, a Gurung village of slate roofs, courtyards, and flags. From the lanes the wall in front of you is Annapurna South and Hiunchuli; Machhapuchhre stands off to the east. The walk in from Nayapul is terraces, forest, and the river. The jeep to Kimche cuts that to a short climb.
The village is the point. You are in a working settlement with shops and lodges, not on a high camp. Dawn is a walk to a viewpoint above the roofs, not a 4,000-metre start.
