Mardi Himal

A ridge aimed at Machhapuchhre. Forest, then open ground, then a high camp. Four or five days. Quieter than ABC, thinner lodges.

Mardi Himal is a balcony. You climb from Kande through cloud forest to a sequence of camps on a ridge that points at Machhapuchhre. Forest Camp is a clearing in the trees. Low Camp starts to open. After Badal Danda the trail leaves the forest and runs along an exposed ridge to High Camp. The fish-tail fills the sky ahead; Annapurna South and Hiunchuli stand to the west. You are looking at the mountain, not walking into a bowl.

The highest beds are at High Camp (about 3,550–3,580 m). The usual turnaround is a pre-dawn ridge walk to a viewpoint around 4,200 m; some parties continue toward a “base camp” near 4,500 m and come back the same morning. There is no lodge up there.

Usual nights

One common outline. Villages and camps shift with the road and the season.

  1. Forest Camp A few teahouses in a clearing
  2. Low Camp Teahouses
  3. High Camp Basic lodges — highest beds on the trail

Four days is tight; five is kinder because the climb is steep. Teahouses exist but they are not Ghorepani — High Camp fills in peak weeks. Descent is often a different line to Sidhing. ACAP. Altitude is real on the last morning even though the walk is short on the map.

Days are a usual range, not a promise. Jeeps, snow, and your pace change them. Permits and guide rules change — ask in Pokhara before you go.
