Khumai Danda

The quiet ridge next to Mardi. Machhapuchhre close, forest then pasture. Three or four days. Fewer people than the Mardi highway.

Khumai sits on the next ridge over from Mardi Himal, reached from Ghachok rather than Kande. You climb through Gurung farmland into mossy forest, then pasture at Hile Kharka and Chichimle, then a ridge lodge at Khumai Danda (about 3,245 m). Machhapuchhre is close — the same fish-tail Mardi looks at, from a quieter line. Korchan (around 3,700 m) is a pre-dawn walk from the lodge, not a village.

Fewer people than the Mardi camps. Forest, kharka, a thin ridge. You can still see the city on the way in.

Usual nights

One common outline. Villages and camps shift with the road and the season.

  1. Hile Kharka or Chichimle Basic teahouses
  2. Khumai Danda A few ridge lodges

Three days is tight; four is kinder. Jeep to Ghachok is about an hour from Lakeside. ACAP. Teahouses exist but they are few — this is not Forest Camp on the Mardi trail. Some parties link Khumai with Mardi; treat that as a longer walk, not the default.

Days are a usual range, not a promise. Jeeps, snow, and your pace change them. Permits and guide rules change — ask in Pokhara before you go.
