Pumdikot Shiva

Hilltop statue west of the lake. A newer monument, a long view, and a sunset alternative to Sarangkot’s crowd.

Pumdikot is a hill south-west of the lake, about 1,500 metres up, with a large Shiva statue facing roughly south-west — local explanation is that Shiva faces Kailash. The figure itself is commonly given as 51 feet, sitting on a dome; together the composition is often called 108 feet. It is a recent monument, not an 18th-century temple, and a sunset alternative to Sarangkot’s crowd.

There is a view tower. The site is a short drive from the Peace Pagoda ridge. Confirm the road and any ticket on the day; this is still a new stop on the tourist map.
