Gupteshwor Cave
Cave shrine across the road from the fall. Shiva in the dark, the waterfall seen from underneath. Slippery; bring a torch you trust.
Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave sits across the Siddhartha Highway from Patale Chhango. The name means “hidden lord.” A limestone passage holds a Shiva shrine (a lingam in the rock) and, further in, a view of the same waterfall from underneath. The tourist path is lit; it is still slippery. Bring shoes you trust.
The sink at Devi’s Fall and this cave belong to one underground river system in Pokhara’s lake sediments. Cave surveys of the wider Patale Chhango system put it among the longest mapped caves in Nepal. The shrine was developed for visitors in the 1990s; the cave itself is far older. Ticketed; often sold as a pair with the fall.
