Devi’s Fall

Patale Chhango — “underworld waterfall” — is where Phewa’s outlet (Pardi Khola) drops into a limestone sink and vanishes. English signs say Devi’s Fall, Davis Fall, or Davi’s Fall. Nepal Tourism Board records that a Swiss woman drowned here in 1961; the English name stuck. The official name is still Patale Chhango. The water is loudest after monsoon, thinner in winter.

The fall is beside the Siddhartha Highway at Chhorepatan / Damside, a few kilometres from Lakeside. Pair it with Gupteshwor Cave across the road: the same water reappears underground. It is a ticketed viewpoint, not a swimming hole.
