Begnas is the large lake east of town, in what used to be Lekhnath, now inside Pokhara metropolitan city. It is quieter than Phewa: fewer menus, more fishing boats, a ridge walk, and a weekend crowd from the city rather than from trekking agencies. It is part of the Lake Cluster of Pokhara Valley, listed as a Ramsar wetland in 2016.
Count on a taxi or local bus — it is on the order of 15 km from Lakeside, not a stroll. Boats run. Homestays and small resorts sit on the shore. If the assignment is rest rather than restaurants, this is the other lake people mean.
